Try this simple recipe to relieve and help heal your sunburn’s redness and pain.

Relieve Sunburn with Essential Oils

Mix the following in a small lotion container:

Lavender, Blue Chamomile, and Aloe Vera Gel

Many studies have been done on the healing properties of Lavender, which is probably the most common essential oil used for sunburns. Lavender has antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties, which makes it well-suited for sunburned skin.*

Additionally, Lavender promotes new skin growth, which enhances the healing process.*

Chamomile is another very popularly used essential oil. One of its many uses is on the skin to cleanse, soothe, and calm.* Thus, its usefulness on burns, blisters, and itchy skin. Therefore, it can be quite beneficial on sunburned skin.*

Aloe Vera Gel has a multitude of uses and contains minerals, enzymes, antioxidants, and more! Its most popular use, however, has always been as a skin ointment, especially beneficial used as a home remedy for burns.

Because it is much thicker than essential oils, Aloe Vera Gel makes a wonderful “base” to add the Lavender and Blue Chamomile to make the sunburn salve recipe, above. This makes it easy to apply to sunburned skin.

All three ingredients provide many benefits to help protect and heal sunburned skin!*

Even if the sun doesn’t burn your skin, it can really do a number on it, leaving it dry and dehydrated. Discover essential oils that can effectively moisturize dry skin.

Dandruff Relief Using Essential Oils

Dandruff Relief Using Essential Oils

Dandruff is one of those nuisances in life that you really don’t have time to deal with – but you don’t have a choice!

After all, going out in public with visible flakes in your hair causes self-consciousness and embarrassment.

Furthermore, having to deal with the uncomfortableness of an itchy, dry scalp is enough to make you want to scream! Get natural – yet effective – dandruff relief using essential oils.

Dandruff Relief Using Essential Oils

High quality essential oils known as premium grade (suitable for therapeutic purposes) can be used to help get rid of dandruff. The scalp can be healed with the help of a few drops mixed into shampoos, conditioners, and other types of hair treatment products.*

Simply add 3 drops of either Rosemary, Cedarwood, Tea Tree, Patchouli, Lemon, or Lavender per 1 ounce of shampoo, conditioner, or other hair treatment product.

Additionally, there are other “recipes” you can use that are described, below.

What Does Each Oil Do?

Rosemary – Has antifungal and antibacterial properties.* The website, 123beautysolution.in, suggests the best way to use Rosemary essential oil is to wash your hair first, and allow it to dry. Then, add 1 ml (approx. 20 drops) Rosemary essential oil to 10 ml of a carrier oil, such as coconut or olive oil. Use your fingertips to massage the mixture into your scalp and hair. Wrap your head in a warm, wet towel and leave on until the towel cools. Repeat, if necessary. Finally, wash your hair and scalp.

Cedarwood – Has antiseptic, anti-seborrheic, and mild astringent properties that make it an effective dandruff relief using essential oils.*

Tea Tree – Has moisturizing properties, as well as antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antiseptic properties.* These properties make for an effective opponent against disgusting dandruff!

Patchouli – Has been commonly used to benefit skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema, and dermatitis due to its effectiveness in fighting fungal growth and infections (which may contribute to dandruff). Patchouli also has detoxification and cell-renewal abilities, which may help heal the root cause of dandruff.*

Lemon – One of the best oils for dandruff. Lemon reduces flakes, removes sebum, and is antibacterial.*

Lavender – Effective when used on the scalp, to not only reduce dandruff flakes, but also encourages hair growth and a healthy scalp, in general.* The website,  123beautysolution.in, suggests adding about 20 drops of lavender essential oil to 2 tablespoons of either almond, coconut, or olive oil, and mix well. Warm this mixture and then massage into scalp and hair. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave on for 30 minutes. Finally, wash out with a mild shampoo.

Moisturizing Dry Skin With Essential Oils

Moisturizing Dry Skin With Essential OilsHigh quality oils known as premium grade (suitable for therapeutic purposes) can be used for moisturizing dry skin with essential oils.*

Some causes of dry skin are over-washing with harsh soaps; cold temperatures; low humidity; and overuse of sanitizers and other cleaning agents (they contain alcohol). Additionally, dry skin may be a side effect of some pharmaceutical medications.

Moisturizing Dry Skin with Essential Oils

Some of the best essential oils for dry skin are Clary Sage, Jasmine, Palmarosa, Rose, Rosemary and Sandalwood.

  • Clary Sage – contains linalyl acetate, which balances and regulates the natural production of oil in the skin, benefitting both oily and dry skin conditions*
  • Jasmine – beneficial for dry, brittle, and dehydrated skin; often used to help conditions of eczema and dermatitis*
  • Palmarosa – promotes hydration by helping your body retain the moisture in the tissues and retains the moisture balance throughout your body, thus keeping the skin moist and soft*
  • Rose – when added to high-quality skin care products, Rose opens up your skin to absorb more of the product’s quality nutrients*
  • Rosemary – helps tone the skin, removes dryness, and gives it a healthy glow*
  • Sandalwood – soothes the skin and relieves inflammation and irritation that accompanies dry skin*

These oils can be added to a facial mask, lotion, facial oil or body oil. Choose an oil to use by itself, or create your own blend using more than one of them.

Add the oils to your desired beauty products, as mentioned above. Start with 3-5 drops of any of these essential oils to one ounce of your favorite, quality skincare product.
